Word of welcome from the pastor

Pastor Wilondja Msiando

Shalom! Receive our warm greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! My name is Pastor Wilondja Msiando and I would like to extend to you a hearty welcome to our website. What an honor it is to have you navigate around this site. We hope that you will take a closer look at us, because we are confident that you will discover answers to some of the important questions you have. More importantly, you will find that God is here. If you have not already, you CAN come to know Him NOW! Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they know YOU the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:2. Because we were made in the image and likeness of God, our hearts are restless and not really happy until they find rest in God, it has been said. At the Living Water EFC your aching heart can find that rest in Him. It may give you comfort to know that you will not be alone. You will also find God’s people here. You will meet others who have begun life restless and have come to find rest in God. At the Living Water EFC you will experience actions of love, compassion and sincere service – attitudes to shape and make sure we reach the balance between the people’s spiritual and physical well-being. We are part of the family of God and would rejoice to have you join us. In short, you will find us to be a Jesus centered, caring community of individuals, many who are new to this country and this community, who are excited about having the opportunity to extend to you the same love, hope and peace we have received from the Lord. We extend to you a cordial invitation to join us! If you are looking for a healthy environment for your spiritual growth in Jesus Christ, make the Living Water EFC your church home and you will meet sisters and brothers in Christ, who truly follow after God! “Living Water EFC is large enough to meet your needs, but not so large that you feel lost and unseen in the crowd.” May you be blessed today and in the years ahead through Jesus Christ, our Peace, Amen!

Pastor Wilondja Msiando

The history of the Living Water EFC

The present Membership of the Living Water Evangelical Free Church is primarily composed of new refugees who were recently resettled in Des Moines. These refugees are from Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and a few from Sudan and Liberia. These individuals are innocent survivors of massacres, and different armed conflicts opposed between the government army and rebels in their respective countries. Some of these refugees were badly injured, faced different kinds of violation, rapes, tortures, and arbitrary imprisonments. In addition to these difficulties, they lost their belongings and their family members were killed and slain in their presence.

Living Water Evangelical Church was founded by our Pastor, Wilondja Msiando, as the Lord lead him. The inspiration for the creation of the church occurred after Pastor Wilondja Msiando and his family moved to the United States in the September 2005 to escape the war in their native country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. During his immigration process he was able to witness firsthand how difficult the immigration and assimilation process can be.
